EAGLES FACE HIGHEST RISK FROM BLADE STRIKES

Gamekeepers called yesterday for increased monitoring of bird strikes around the thousands of wind turbines in Scotland’s hills….

Scottish Gamekeepers Association (SGA) said:

“keepers had witnessed raptors being killed by wind turbines….  Our members have witnessed dead raptors under turbines, and up to 200 yards from turbine masts, way beyond the 50 yard radius operators are recommended to search and report…”

With up to two nesting pairs of eagles (as well as many other raptors) known to nest between 2-5 kilometres from the proposed Ardtaraig Windfarm, there is a significant likelihood of increased raptor deaths.
